Fei Sheehy Challenge

Fei Sheehy Challenge
Please check with Race Organiser for updates.

This event is organised by Na Sléibhte Hillwalking Club and supported privately by individuals, businesses and the broader hill walking community to showcase the beautiful mountains in the area.

It is also one of the few challenge hillwalking events endorsed by Mountaineering Ireland.

The challenge is to cross the Comeragh, Galty and Knockmealdown Mountains on the three designated, consecutive, days.

It is a self-navigation and self-reliance event only. There will be no walk leaders provided. We encourage the competent use/practice of personal mountain skills.

The cumulative distance over the 3 days is circa 92K and the height gain/descent is circa 4,200m

Friday - Comeragh Mountains, 32km with 1400m ascent

Saturday - Galty Mountains, 30km with 1700m ascent

Sunday - Knockmealdown Mountains, 30km with 1100m ascent

You don't have to do all 3 days. You can also elect to do 1 day (Single Crossing) or 2 days (Double Crossing).

About the Fei Sheehy Challenge.
Fei is the daughter of a hill walker. She was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in 2011 and died in 2012, aged 8. Her dad took up hill walking two months after her death and decided to organise a tough hill walking challenge in her memory to raise money for Voluntary and Charitable Organisations.
