As two major international youth and university championships reach their conclusion, Irish athletes remain in the hunt for more medals. It’s a slightly quieter Saturday by recent standards, but it is an important day as finals dominate the schedule on the last day of the European Youth Olympic Festival in Skopje, while the World University Games in Germany also begin to wind down. Alongside those, a handful of Irish seniors are competing at World Continental Tour Bronze and Challenger level meets, keeping sharp as the season builds toward the business end.

🏅 European Youth Olympic Festival

Friday brought more podium finishes for Team Ireland, with Ellis McHugh and Joe Burke each winning bronze in the 400m hurdles and 200m, respectively. Thomas Williams just missed out in the hammer throw, finishing 4th, while the girls’ medley relay team impressed with a second-place finish in their heat, qualifying for this morning’s final.

She competes in Group B this afternoon, aiming to book her place in the final.

🔚 Note on Smaller Meets:
While the startlists are included for all Continental Tour and Challenger events, keep in mind that these lower-tier meets often see late withdrawals or lane changes. Athletes may opt out for tactical or scheduling reasons — so inclusion on the list doesn’t always mean they’ll take to the start line. We’ll update results as they come in.
